It was not long ago that actor Meera Chopra had bid adieu to films saying that she was a complete misfit in the industry. But now, it appears that the actor has had a change of heart and is back with three projects in her kitty.
She is also all set to make her B-town debut. “I am gearing up for two Hindi films — 'Bhaiyaji Superhit', which stars
Sunny Deol,
Arshad Warsi and
Tusshar Kapoor, and Firoz Nadiadwala’s 'Hera Pheri 3', which will go on the floors later this year.
I have also finalized a Telugu film and will be heading to Hyderabad soon to sign on the dotted line,” she says.
So how excited is she about her Bollywood debut? “I’m not ecstatic about my B-town innings — it’s just another job. The only difference is that I will be working in a language I’m familiar with. In recent times, a number of actors from the south have made their Bollywood debuts, but I’m not interested in any competition of sorts. The industry is big and there is space for everyone,” she says.
Why has she chosen to make a comeback? “Films are still not my priority. Cinema is just a temporary part of any actor’s career. Life changes after marriage,” she says.
Does that mean marriage is on the cards? “I don’t have a guy in my life. Let me find my Mr Right first,” she adds.
Meera has always refrained from shaking a leg to item numbers. But with actors like
Katrina Kaif and
Kareena Kapoor joining the brigade, will she change her stance? “I used to feel awkward about them, but now I would say, ‘I want to do an item number once in my career’. They have a great reach,” she admits.
So how does Meera deal with the tag of controversy’s child? “When I started my career, people called me arrogant. I had come from a corporate background and was not familiar with the working style in films. I didn’t come out and share my problems as I’ve always been a shy person. I have learnt from my mistakes,” she says.
Is it true that Meera was upset with her 'Jaganmohini' (which was her last Tamil release) co-star Namitha, as the latter apparently asked the director to edit out Meera’s scenes? “I was upset that many of my scenes were deleted from the film, but I don’t blame anyone for it. I conveyed my displeasure back then and that’s not important to me anymore. I am busy with my fashion venture, which is my priority,” she signs off.
