The 1993 blasts in Mumbai were one of the most horrific chapters of the city. But did you know that many celebs were not present in Mumbai at that point. In a recent interview, actor Akashdeep Sabir has opened up on how many stars were in Dubai for a cricket match at that point in time and how things went last minute. It was a celebrity cricket match.
Akashdeep said during a chat with Lehre Retro, "This was the ’93 Bombay blasts so it became an issue when… we were scheduled to have this match and we were expecting a full house because we had every leading actor from Dilip saab to
Shah Rukh Khan,
Saif Ali Khan, everybody was there playing the match. And because of this issue, I believe, there was an announcement in Dubai that nobody will go for the match.”
He added that
Dilip Kumar and him tried to make requests so people would come but it didn't work out He said further, “Unfortunately, nobody came and we still had to have the match. It got the promoter into such dire straits that the next morning he said, ‘Guys, time to vacate. Get earlier flights and leave because I have lost everything. I can’t afford to let people stay for another day’."
Shah Rukh was with his wife Gauri and wanted to stay there for some more days. That's when
Sheeba who was also an actress and later went on to marry Akashdeep told SRK-Gauri to come and stay at her apartment.
Akashdeep revealed, "It was during this time that Baazigar had released. It had not yet become what it is today, a cult film. Sheeba said, ‘I have a lovely apartment across the lake, you can come and stay there’. He was more than sweet. She had a massive 4-5 bedroom house,” he said. He said that Sheeba mentioned SRK was a lovely guest.
On the professional front, SRK was last seen in the action thriller 'Jawan,' which was a hit. Next he will be seen in 'King'.
In addition, Shah Rukh Khan and his family will temporarily move out of their iconic Bandra bungalow, Mannat, as it undergoes renovation starting in May. For the first time in over two decades, they will have neighbors, relocating to four floors of a luxury apartment in Bandra’s Pali Hill. The building, Puja Casa, is co-owned by filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani and his family.
