A shooting incident occurred at a school in United States' Dallas, prompting police intervention.
According to Dallas Independent School District (ISD), gunfire was reported from Wilmer-Hutchins High School at 1:25 pm (local time) on Tuesday.
DISD said in a social media post, "Safety protocols have been implemented, and we are asking everyone to refrain from coming to the campus. Reunification plans will be shared shortly."
It informed in an update that the high school was secured at 2:12 pm: "Wilmer-Hutchins High School is secured. Reunification plans will be shared shortly. Please be prepared to arrive with your photo ID. We need everyone's help to refrain from coming to campus."
DISD added, "Parents/guardians can now reunify with their students at Eagles Stadium, 5520 Langdon Rd, Dallas, TX 75241. Please bring a photo ID. We understand this is a difficult time and ask for your patience. Counselors are on site and available."
Fox News that a student, 17, was shot in the leg.
Footage of the school on social media showed a number of first responders, including police, fire and paramedics.
There was a shooting at the same high school nearly a year ago, prompting the use of metal detectors and clear backpacks.
