PwC, one of the Big Four accounting firms, has announced a reduction of approximately 1,500 positions across its United States operations, as confirmed by a company representative to Reuters on Monday. The staff reduction represents about 2 per cent of the company's United States workforce, according to the spokesperson. The firm currently maintains a workforce exceeding 75,000 personnel in the United States. "This was a difficult decision, and we made it with care, thoughtfulness, and a deep awareness of its impact on our people, appreciating that historically low levels of attrition over consecutive years have made it necessary to take this step", PwC said in its statement.Reuters had previously reported in the previous year about PwC's consideration to reduce up to 50% of its financial services audit personnel in China, amidst challenging business conditions and a regulatory investigation. The firm closed its operations across nine Sub-Saharan African nations following a strategic assessment last month. PwC operates alongside KPMG, EY and Deloitte as part of the Big Four accounting organisations.
