AGRA: The mother-in-law and sister-inlaw of 30-year-old IT professional Manav Sharma, who allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Agra Feb 24, were arrested Thursday after Allahabad HC refused to interfere in the FIR registered against his wife and her family.
His wife, Nikita Sharma, the primary accused, remains on the run. Sadar ACP Vinayak Bhonsle, said, “The two women, aged 48 and 23, were arrested following intelligence from an informant. Cops are making efforts to locate Nikita Sharma, the prime accused.”
The arrests came after the high court dismissed a writ petition filed by Manav’s father-in-law seeking to quash the FIR. On Feb 24, Manav, a manager at an IT firm in Mumbai, was found dead at his Agra residence. Before his death, he allegedly recorded a video, in which he accused his wife of infidelity and apologised to his parents.
In the video, he said: “Please, someone should talk about men. They become very lonely.” He apologised to his parents, saying, “Dad and mom, I’m sorry. But understand this, once I’m gone, everything will be fine.”
Following a complaint by Manav’s father, Narendra Sharma, a retired IAF officer, cops registered a case of abetment of suicide against Manav’s wife and inlaws. After Manav’s death, Nikita had denied all allegations, claiming that Manav struggled with alcohol addiction and had attempted suicide multiple times before.
