NEW DELHI: A head constable was dragged on the bonnet of a car in northwest Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy. Police arrested the accused in Kolkata.
According to police, the incident took place around 6:28 am on April 22 near GTK Bypass. During the inquiry, complainant head constable Praveen told officers that around 6:00am, he, along with assistant sub-inspector Naveen, intercepted a suspicious white car near the Bhalswa Landfill on GTK Bypass.
"On being asked to step out of the vehicle, the car driver attempted to flee. In an effort to stop the vehicle, Praveen stood in front of the car. However, the driver accelerated and drove directly at him, causing Praveen to land on the bonnet," the cops said.
The vehicle continued towards Azadpur while Praveen remained on the bonnet. He managed to jump off when the car slowed down near Azadpur Mandi red light. Injured and without his personal phone, which got lodged between the bonnet and windshield, Praveen borrowed a phone from a passerby and alerted the PCR.
The accused was identified as Karamveer, who fled Delhi and boarded a train to Kolkata, where he was apprehended.
A case was registered.
