In separate incidents, 5 minors apprehended for fatal stabbing in Jagatpuri
New Delhi: A 17-year-old boy stabbed a man to death in east Delhi's Jagatpuri on Monday over the victim's unwillingness to share drugs with him.
According to police, a PCR call was received at 10.27 pm at the Jagatpuri police station about an injured man lying in a pool of blood in Ganesh Park in Balmiki Basti. "Police reached the spot and found an injured man lying on the ground, who was later identified as Sajan. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival," a senior police officer said.
A crime team and FSL team also examined the spot. A case was registered under section 103 (murder) of BNS at Jagatpuri police station.
A police team was constituted that analysed CCTV footage and local intelligence to trace the suspect.
"Police team received a tip-off about the accused that he was residing with his brother-in-law in Jagatpuri since April 17 to celebrate his friend's birthday. His friend told police that he is a resident of Burari. Based on this info, police team traced the accused and apprehended him from Burari," DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Priya Gautam said.
"The minor who was apprehended told police that he went to Ganesh Park on Monday and spotted Sajan with a friend using drugs. He asked for the same, but Sajan refused, and an argument ensued. Sajan allegedly first assaulted the minor, and then the minor snatched the knife and stabbed him to death," DCP Gautam said.
Police have recovered the knife as well as the clothes worn by the minor at the time of the incident. Further investigation is underway.
In another incident on the same day, four minors stabbed a 19-year-old man on Monday in north east Delhi's Yamuna Vihar. Police said that they were apprehended and three knives used in the crime were recovered from their possession.
