Huvina Hadagali (Vijayanagara): Jamalbi was elected pesident and Manjunath Soppin vice-president unopposed, marking a historic moment as the BJP took control of the municipality for the first time on Thursday. Ten of 14 Congress members switched allegiance to BJP. Six out of nine BJP members participated in the election. Only one nomination was submitted for both the president and VP positions. Sixteen members supported the uncontested election of Jamalbi, who was previously elected as a Congress member before joining BJP, along with Soppin. Election officer, tahsildar G Santosh Kumar, announced the results in the presence of chief officer H Imam Saab. MLA Krishna Nayak and the newly elected president and the VP led a celebratory procession in an open vehicle. Former MLA Nandihalli Halappa, BJP Mandal president Mallikarjun Pujar, and other functionaries, including M Parameshwarappa, Warad Gaus Mohiddeen, ET Lingaraj, Manjunath Jain, Siraj Bavihalli, and Parasuram, attended the event.
