Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee seeks enhanced rail services
Hubballi: Mahendra Singhi, a member of the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) of South Western Railway (SWR), ministry of railways, demanded enhanced rail services. He called for the extension of services and the launch of special trains to address the inconvenience faced by the public.
In a memorandum, Singhi demanded that Mukul Saran Mathur, general manager, South Western Railways, Hubballi, fulfil these demands. He demanded enhancements of train Nos. 17317/17318 (Hubballi-Dada Express) and 17319/17320 (Hubballi-Hyderabad Express). Both trains currently operate with only 15 coaches, which is insufficient given the high demand.
For train No. 17317/17318, he proposed a change of terminal from Dadar to Mumbai CSMT to allow operation with 24 coaches. Additionally, reattach the previously removed 1AC coach.
At present, train No. 14805/06 Barmer Express runs from Yashvantpur to Barmer via Biladadi, Jalor route weekly once. He demanded that the frequency of these trains be increased to at least thrice in a week for the convenience of passengers.
Introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper train from Hubballi to Mumbai and Belgavi to Bengaluru, launch of holiday special trains for Rajasthan and Gujarat from Hubli and Bengaluru are among the demands.
Lakhs of Jain devotees residing in Karnataka and southwest Maharashtra frequently undertake pilgrimages to the revered Shatrunjaya Hills in Palitana.
He also requested the introduction of a weekly superfast train from KSR Bengaluru (SBC) to Palitana (PIT) via Hubballi, Belgaum, Miraj, Pune, Panvel, Vasai Road, Surat, and Ahmedabad. This train will not only serve the Jain community but also benefit other travellers along this route, he added.
