BJP’s T Raja Singh says amended Waqf Act will end 'land jihad', calls Asaduddin Owaisi 'biggest enemy of Muslims'

NEW DELHI: BJP’s Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh on Sunday said the amended Waqf legislation will put an end to “land jihad” in the country. Addressing a Ram Navami procession in Hyderabad, the firebrand legislator claimed that “land jihadis” were facing increasing resistance ever since a “saffron government” came to power at the Centre.
“Those who used to put up Waqf boards on land as if it belonged to their ancestors can no longer do so, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Waqf (Amendment) Bill,” Singh said.
Alleging encroachment of public lands, Singh questioned how Waqf boards’ landholdings grew from 4,000 acres at the time of Independence to over 9.5 lakh acres. He, however, clarified that the amended law does not strip Muslims of legitimate ownership, citing Modi’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” mantra.
Singh also launched a scathing attack on AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, calling him the “biggest enemy of Muslims” for challenging the new law in the Supreme Court. Owaisi, in his petition, has argued that the amendment removes safeguards earlier extended to Waqf properties and religious endowments of other communities, including Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains.
The BJP MLA, however, dismissed the legal challenge as inconsequential and reiterated the demand to declare India a “Hindu Rashtra”.
The Ram Navami procession led by Singh continued till late evening with tight police deployment, including 20,000 personnel across Hyderabad. Live drone and CCTV surveillance was used by City Police Commissioner CV Anand, who confirmed that the event concluded peacefully.
“With the support of organisers, officials, devotees, and the people of Hyderabad, the Shobha Yatra ended without incident,” Anand said in a statement.
