Woman kills hubby with help of kin, buries body near Pragati Nagar lake
Hyderabad: A 45-year-old worker was allegedly killed by his wife with the help of two family members at Nizampet on April 18. After the murder, the accused buried the body at an isolated place near Pragati Nagar Lake in the early hours of April 19. The incident came to light on Monday when an auto driver, who saw the accused trying to shift the body from Nizampet, alerted the KPHB police.
The victim, Sailu, was identified as a labourer from Lingaipalle village in Papannapet mandal of Medak district. His wife Kavitha worked at an apartment in Maithri Hills, KPHB Colony, as a cleaner and stayed in a hut at Nizampet. Due to personal problems, the couple had been staying separately for the past 15 years. While Sailu, along with his two children, stayed in Lingaipalle, Kavitha stayed alone in Nizampet, close to the house of her sister, Jyothy.
A few days ago, Sailu and Kavitha met at a family function in Lingaipalle, and she invited him to stay with her in the city. Sailu came to live with Kavitha. As his phone remained switched off from April 18 night, the worried family approached Lingaipalle village elders on Sunday, and Kavitha was summoned to the village by the elders. She went to Lingaipalle on Sunday evening, claiming that Sailu left home on April 18 evening and did not return.
Meanwhile, an auto driver alerted the KPHB police on Sunday night about Kavitha and two others asking him to help them in shifting garbage stuffed in a gunny bag to Pragati Nagar Lake rrecently. "The auto driver found the behaviour of the accused suspicious and refused to take them to Pragati Nagar Lake. On Sunday night, he alerted us about the same. We picked up Kavitha for questioning from Lingaipalle, and she confessed to electrocuting Sailu at their house with the help of her sister Jyothy and brother-in-law, Mallesh, on April 18 night. Subsequently, they buried the body near Pragati Nagar Lake in the early hours of April 19," a senior Cyberabad police officer said.
Based on the confession of Kavitha, police launched a manhunt to nab the other two accused, who were on the run. "We will exhume the body on Tuesday," KPHB inspector S Rajasekhar Reddy said.
Kavitha reportedly told police that Sailu used to physically harass her, and unable to put up with the daily harassment, she killed him with the help of the other accused. A murder case was registered under Section 103 (1) of the BNS on the complaint of the victim's family. The victim is survived by Kavitha and two school-going children.
