Indore: A newly married couple was found dead inside their home in Panched village of Ratlam district early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jitendra Bagri, a daily wage labourer, and his wife, Durga.
The matter came to light when family members noticed the couple had not come out of their room in the morning. Despite repeated knocks on the door by Jitendra's father, Ambaram, there was no response. Concerned, the family members forcefully opened the door, only to find the couple hanging inside a small room of their mud house.
SDOP Kishore Patanwala, Namli police station in-charge Patiram Davre and other local police officials reached the spot but before the authorities arrived, family members had already brought the bodies down. A large number of villagers gathered at the site as news of the incident spread.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Jitendra and Durga were married only four months ago. According to the father, the couple had a court marriage.
The police have sent the bodies for postmortem examination at Ratlam Medical College and have begun investigating to determine the cause of the suspected suicide.
This was Durga's second marriage and her first husband has passed away. Her background remains unclear, but she was originally from Nagda and was living with her uncle, as her parents were no longer alive. SDOP Patanwala said that the woman's second marriage is a factor being looked into as part of the ongoing probe.
