JAIPUR: Former
IAS officer and veteran Congress leader Damodar Thanvi died on Saturday morning after falling down on a railway platform from a moving train at Jaipur railway station. Thanvi had also served as former chairman of the state commission for disabled persons.
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), 78-year-old Thanvi came here from Phalodi via Jodhpur by a train in the morning.
"He was sleeping while the train reached Jaipur station at 5 am. When the train was about to leave the station some co-passengers informed him about the arrival of his destination. It appears that he walked out of the train compartment hurriedly which disturbed his balance and he fell down on the platform,"said a senior officer of the GRP.
He sustained head injury and was immediately rushed to the SMS hospital since he was also feeling uneasy. "During the medical examination, he succumbed,"said a senior doctor at the SMS hospital. The body of the officer was handed over to the family members after the post-mortem.
