Virudhunagar: Chief minister M K Stalin on Sunday expressed grief over the electrocution of three people in Kariseri village near Sivakasi and announced a solatium of ₹3 lakh each to their families from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
The incident occurred around 3.10 pm during preparations for a festival at the Mariamman temple on North Street. Thirupathi, 27, a resident of Kariseri, was installing a speaker system when it came into contact with a transformer wire. On hearing his cries, his wife Lalitha, 25, and grandmother Paakkiyam, 75, rushed to help but were also electrocuted.
In a statement, Stalin conveyed his condolences and directed officials to provide immediate relief to the bereaved family.
