Mysuru: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) district unit president Rafath Khan on Monday asked chief minister
Siddaramaiah to allocate sufficient grants to upgrade Mysuru airport as an international airport, which will boost tourism.
Speaking to reporters, he also asked the CM to constitute a special task force for the conservation of the forest of Chamundi Hills, Bandipur, and Nagarahole, as well as the rejuvenation of all lakes, waterbodies, and tourist places through public-private partnerships.
As part of promoting the city as an education hub, he also urged the CM to provide grants to set up a campus for Dr Gangubai Hanagal State Music University, ensure facilities for the regional centre of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), set up Krishnarajendra Health University in Mysuru, and come up with a special programme for the improvement of the century-old University of Mysore as a world-class university.
SDPI office bearers Devanur Puttananjaiah, Mansur Khan, Tabreez Sait, Mohammed Shafi Ulla, and others were present.
