Puducherry to provide 20-litre water can daily to households

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry govt has proposed to provide 20-litre drinking water cans daily to each household where underground water had turned saline, public works minister K Lakshminarayan.
The minister said the govt has initiated the process of identifying the beneficiaries under the scheme, which will be launched from Tamil New Year this year.
The minister’s announcement came after independent MLA K Nehru and DMK MLA Anibal Kennedy charged that the total dissolved solids (TDS) level in drinking water supplied in certain areas in the town is above the permissible level.
