In response to the heat wave conditions in the region, Thane Zilla Parishad has revised the operating timings for its primary and secondary schools, effective immediately. While ZP schools will follow the new timings, private and aided institutions are considering how to implement the changes due to space constraints and pre-scheduled exams.

THANE: The Thane Zilla Parishad Education Department Tuesday announced temporary modification in operating timings for its school in the district in the wake of heat wave conditions in the region.
As per a statement issued by the Thane ZP, all primary schools under its jurisdiction will be operative between 7am and 11.15 am while the secondary section will be operative between 7am and 11.45 am.
The revised school timing will be implemented with immediate effect following a notification from the state edu dept for all over 4500 ZP operated educational institutes in the district, informed Thane Zilla Parishad officials. schools in the district.
ZP officials said they have informed education departments of the respective municipal corporations in Thane district to communicate with schools including private institutions operating within their respective jurisdiction about the same.
However, managements of few private and aided schools operating in the city said they were yet to decide on how to implement the orders considering that many of them operate in dual shifts, i.e. in morning and afternoon sessions.
“We have decided to wait and watch till further clarity comes on the issue. We will operate as per our regular schedule as we have space constraints and cannot accommodate all classes at one time in the morning session as per the diktat. Further, the exam seasons are also pre-scheduled and it may require a lot of reworking at the last minute,” said the office bearer of a trust operating a Thane school.
