Woman defrauded of Rs 62 lakh in stock market scam

Thiruvananthapuram: A 36-year-old woman residing at Melarannoor was cheated of Rs 62 lakh after being offered attractive returns upon investing in the stock market.
The victim was first contacted by the accused in April last year, informing her about an online free course on the stock market. She was also provided with a login ID and password for a website through which investments were made.
After receiving training, the victim was compelled to try her luck by investing a small amount. She received attractive returns initially and was compelled to increase the investment amounts.
The amount was transferred over a two-month period from May 2024 to June 2024. The victim, who later realised the fraud, approached police after failing to get back her money through all possible means.
Police began a probe after registering a case.
