Virat Kohli made
IPL history on Thursday by becoming the first player to hit 1000 boundaries in the tournament. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru star achieved the milestone during Match 24 of the IPL 2025 season against Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Kohli reached the landmark in style, smashing a six over long-on off Axar Patel in the fourth over. His tally now stands at 721 fours and 279 sixes — a record that no one else in IPL has matched.

He continues to lead the charts for most fours and is behind only Chris Gayle (357) and Rohit Sharma (282) when it comes to sixes. With 99 half-centuries, Kohli is also just one away from becoming only the second batter in T20 history to score 100 fifties, after David Warner.
But despite Kohli’s milestone moment, it was
KL Rahul who stole the show. The Delhi Capitals skipper played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 93 off 53 balls to guide his team to a six-wicket win. Playing in his hometown, Rahul showed great calm under pressure as Delhi bounced back from 58/4 while chasing 164.
Earlier, RCB posted 163/7, thanks to a good start from Kohli and Phil Salt. But Delhi’s spinners, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, tightened things up in the middle overs, slowing down the scoring.
Rahul found a reliable partner in Tristan Stubbs, and together they stitched a 111-run stand for the fifth wicket — the highest ever for that position in Delhi Capitals’ history. Rahul’s innings included seven boundaries and six sixes, helping DC finish the chase in just 17.5 overs, with 13 balls to spare.
