Bickram Ghosh plans to recreate traditional songs moulded with contemporary lyrics and music for the upcoming movie, Avijatrik directed by
Subhrajit Mitra. The movie being set in the backdrop of 1930s, Bickram intends to bring pure classical genre along with folk. “I wish to have a Rabindrasangeet along with few instrumental pieces in the music album”, said the music director.
He further added, Instruments like sur bahar, has become obsolete. Considering the period, the movie is set on, I plan to include it as well.”
The film marks the return of Apu after 60 years in writer and director Subhrajit Mitra’s black-and-white Bengali period drama. The shoot will start from May. In a recent interview with us, Subhrajit said, "Recreating the Kolkata of the 1940s is a challenge in itself for the team. To take their work a notch higher, around 14 senior members of the crew set off on a recce to Varanasi, Gorubathan in the Dooars, Taki, Santiniketan and Dumka. “We are recreating Nishchindipur, Varanasi and Kolkata of yesteryear with thoroughly researched authentic visual references." This is required because in the film, Apu is re-living his childhood through his son
Kajol and finally embarks on a journey together to a distant land.
