No time for love: Pakhi Hegde
Working in Bhojpuri industry was a matter of chance for Pakhi Hegde. One of the most sought after actress in the industry, she started off with a Doordarshan sitcom.
She says, I started my career with Main Banungi Miss India. The show ran for three years at number one position. Then I got an offer for a Bhojpuri film called Bairi Piya. I agreed, and I bagged critics award for that movie.

After that, there was no looking back and within four years, I acted in almost 45 movies so far. Many of them were superhits like Rikshawalla I Love You, Nirahua Chala Sasural, Pratigya, Daagetc.
Talking of the reigning kings of Bhojpuri movie industry, like Manoj Tiwari, Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua and Ravi Kishan, we ask her who she likes best to work with, and Pakhi says, Out of the 45 films I have done, 35 are with Nirahua. We share great chemistry. I think Manoj and Ravi are also great actors. In fact, Im slated to work with Manoj in Paramveer Parshuram, which goes on floors later this year.
Apart from Bhojpuri movies, Pakhi has completed two Marathi films as well. I have recently finished shooting Baatmi, which is being renamed as Satnagat. It is based on a famous novel by Rajan Khan and features Mahesh Manjrekar and Sayaji Shinde in prominent roles. The other film is called Gulabo, where Im playing a prostitute. Here, Sachin Khedekar has been cast opposite me. Both the films have strong female characters, which is why I agreed on doing them, Pakhi informs.
Apart from regional cinema, Pakhi has also set her eyes on Bollywood. Every actor in India dreams of working in Bollywood someday. Im no exception. But I want to work only in those films where I can showcase my talent. I dont want to be a typical heroine. My first Hindi movie, Woman From The East, which was screened at South Asian Film Festival (SAFF) at Vancouver and London last year, will be releasing in India soon. It is the story of a girl, who is sold off by her father for a mere 6,000 and a buffalo, she tells us.
Pakhi is in no mood to be in a relationship now. Doing so many movies in a year saps a lot of energy. I dont think I would be able to do justice to anyone, she clarifies.
