The volatile on-again, off-again relationship between
Amber Heard and
Johnny Depp has continued to make headlines, but an old revelation about Heard's next relationship with
Elon Musk has provided another twist to the story. According to a revelation during their well-publicized defamation trial by testimony from Depp and Heard's ex-talent agent, Heard supposedly confessed that her relationship with the billionaire entrepreneur was a rebound one and that she "never actually loved him."
The complex timeline of Heard's relationships with Depp and Musk has been under scrutiny. Depp sued Heard for $50 million, accusing her of defaming him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she suggested she was a victim of domestic violence, thus harming his reputation and career. Though Heard denied the allegations and made counterclaims of abuse, their troubled marriage publicly unraveled in 2016 when Heard sought a restraining order against Depp, appearing in court with visible bruises.
The ex-couple divorced in 2017, amid reports that Heard had already moved on with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. But in the defamation trial, their former talent agent took the stand and testified that a message emerged after Heard broke up with Musk, showing her true sentiments about the relationship.
Heard had "moved on immediately" from dating Musk, the agent testified. The agent described informing Heard, "You weren't in love with him, and you told me a thousand times you were just filling space." Heard allegedly replied, "I know, but I wanted time to grieve and heal in my own time. Yet again, another man allows me to fall on the spikes alone. They get angry for leaving me and put things like this out there."
Although the timeline of Heard and Musk's relationship is somewhat ambiguous, the first news of their association appeared in July 2016. Depp's attorneys have claimed that Heard had an affair with Musk, and staff members at the apartment complex where Depp and Heard lived reported that Musk had visited the actress several times during their marriage.
The evidence of Heard's previous agent indicates that the romance with Musk could have been a survival tactic for Heard following her public breakup with Depp, as opposed to a real love affair. This evidence gives further understanding into the complicated web of romance and accusations that have been present around Amber Heard in recent years.
