Actor
Alec Baldwin had been embroiled in controversy and various other issues, as cinematographer Halyna Hutchins tragically passed away on set due to a misfired round from a prop that was in Baldwin’s hands. Even though the movie has finally been released in theatres, the public reaction to the film has been questionable.
The controversy around the film
The western-themed film is covered in controversy when, during a practice run for a shoot, Alec Baldwin misfired a round from a prop that was to be used for the film. The misfired round hit Hutchins, who then later sadly passed away due to the injuries she sustained.
After her death, the actor, along with the creators of the film, were all covered to the brim in legal cases. The situation had also later on worsened as it was revealed after an investigation that the round was fired from live ammunition, which was present on the set for no apparent reason, according to Reuters.
Public reacts to ‘Rust’ being released in theatres three years after the tragedy
The movie was not promoted that well, and the release was almost too quiet to the point where the public was not even aware that the film had been finished. Many had negative reactions to the film, with one user sharing on their social media account that "I'd walk out on that movie even if I was watching it on a plane."
Many made fun of the film for not doing well at the box office on its release and shared memes online about the actor as well.
However, there were some who reviewed the film objectively and shared that the film was, in fact, well shot.
