In the trailer, Susan expresses her confidence that everything will stay the same, reassuring everyone that they can handle the changes ahead. Johnny, equally thrilled about his sister's pregnancy, excitedly declares that he and The Thing are going to be the best uncles ever.
However, their peaceful life is soon disrupted when the Silver Surfer arrives, declaring war on Earth. He warns them that their planet is marked for destruction. Mr. Fantastic, played by Pedro Pascal, believes his team’s recent space exploration might have triggered this ominous threat.
As the threat grows, the Fantastic Four must rise to their duty as Earth’s protectors and embark on a perilous mission in space. When questioned about the safety of Earth’s inhabitants, Mr. Fantastic, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, hesitates, replying, "I don’t know," before launching into the unknown with his team.
Susan emphasizes the importance of facing the threat together as a family, insisting that only they can stop it. She firmly states, "It has to be us," highlighting the unity and strength of the team.
This film marks the official MCU debut of the Fantastic Four, a team previously owned by 20th Century Fox before being acquired by Disney. However, other Marvel heroes won't appear in this universe, as the story is set in an alternate, retro-futuristic version of 1960s Manhattan, where the Fantastic Four are the only superheroes and defenders.
The official synopsis reveals that "The Fantastic Four must defend Earth from a ravenous space god named Galactus and his mysterious Herald, the Silver Surfer," while also dealing with the challenges of their personal lives.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
