Last week, reports flew thick and fast that (late)
Vinod Mehra's daughter Soniya has said goodbye to Bollywood. This is far from the truth. ETimes got in touch with Soniya, who's currently in Dubai. Soniya said, "I don't know who decided that I am not a part of Bollywood anymore. I have just shifted base to Dubai. It's a sort of centrepoint to have between London, India and Kenya; I often go to London and Kenya, a part of my childhood was spent in those two countries."
Added Soniya, who started off with 'Victoria No 2003' in 2007, "I was never irritated or despondent with whatever came my way.
In fact I was grateful for everything. And I am very keen to work in Bollywood movies in the coming days as well. I gave it my best but unfortunately I didn't get offers which resonated with me. It's very important to get roles that you get excited about. So yeah, I am very much open to working in films of any language. In fact, I have also been in touch with many good filmmakers in India. It's just that I am not possessed that I must invariably get a lot of work and I should grab it for just the heck of being in the rate race. I want to be satisfied as an artiste rather than just as an actor."

So what's Soniya doing in Dubai? "Well, it's not that I went out of India only recently. I had initially gone to London for some time. Then I got a very good job as a yoga instructor in Dubai, so I decided to park myself here. Yoga has been a very intrinsic part of me, ever since I used it at the age of 13 to cure myself from lower back pain. Slowly but surely I realised that I can use it further to make people's lives better. I mastered it and I am very passionate about it.

During the conversation, Soniya got candid and said that she's engaged. The guy in question is Kunal, whose pictures with her have been on her social media handle since some time. But it was believed till date that she's single. Revealed Soniya, "Nobody knows this and I am speaking about Kunal for the first time. We have been together for 7 years and even got engaged about a year and half back," and added, "I believe in the institution of marriage. It will be taking our relationship to another level. But personally I don't believe that two people who truly love each other need to necessarily marry. Marriage is a very small part of love. It is not necessary that a man and woman who have been married to each other for 7 years are in love more than Kunal and I who still haven't tied the nuptial knot."
Talking more about Kunal, Soniya said that he is from Mumbai but has been based in Dubai since 13 years. "He's a broker in the luxury real estate business."
"Coming back to the topic of Bollywood, let me tell you that everyone welcomed me and made me feel at home. They had several good things to say about my father, which has told me that he was a great man," concluded Soniya, who's also done 'Shadow' in 2009, 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' in 2012 and 'Ragini MMS 2' in 2014.
