Currently basking in the love for his docu-series The Roshans, and gearing up for the much-anticipated War 2 and Krrish 4, Hrithik took a trip down memory lane during a fan interaction in New Jersey, USA, where he opened up about the early days of his acting career.
Hrithik recalls not getting an easy launch despite being Rakesh Roshan’s son
Despite being the son of filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik revealed that he never expected an easy launch. Recalling his father’s words, the actor shared that Rakesh Roshan made it clear from the beginning, Hrithik would have to create his own path and not count on family connections for a break in the industry.
He explained how that mindset shaped him, saying he was aware that his father wouldn’t make a film just to launch him unless he truly earned it. There were even moments when Hrithik doubted whether he was worthy of such a debut and began auditioning for other filmmakers.

In one such instance, Hrithik auditioned for Shekhar Kapur’s Ta Ra Rum Pum Pum, a project that ultimately never saw the light of day. When his father discovered he was auditioning for the film, he was reportedly taken aback. Hrithik recounted how Rakesh Roshan called him mid-audition, asking him to return immediately and questioning his decision to pursue outside projects.
The Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai actor believes his father may have felt a sense of emotional conflict over another director launching his son. However, Hrithik takes immense pride in the fact that it was not his father, but the filmmaker in Rakesh Roshan, who eventually offered him his first film. That distinction, he said, is something he will always hold dear.
