Swwapnil Joshi is pleased to see the growing recognition of Marathi films for their strong content. He appreciates how both critics and audiences are increasingly acknowledging the value of Marathi cinema.
The Samantar actor also expresses gratitude toward several Bollywood filmmakers who have offered great opportunities to Marathi talent. He specifically thanks Rohit Shetty, sharing, “Rohit sir has always been vocal about his admiration for Marathi cinema and its talent. On behalf of the entire industry, I’d like to thank him for consistently supporting Marathi talent and films. His dedication is evident as he has even invested in Marathi cinema by producing a film (School College Ani Life).”
Swwapnil is thankful that more filmmakers from other industries, especially Bollywood, are recognising the talent emerging from Marathi cinema. “Whether it’s writers or directors, many are now finding work in Hindi films and making an impact. It’s fantastic that Marathi talent is being recognised, appreciated, and becoming a significant part of pan-India cinema,” he says.

In a previous conversation, Swapnil shared his thoughts on the Marathi film industry, explaining, “Marathi cinema has been making the right kind of noise with its choice of scripts, cost-effectiveness, and solid returns on investment. Comparing the Marathi film industry to the South Indian film industry is unfair—it’s like comparing apples to oranges. I believe the Marathi industry is where the South industry was about 10 to 15 years ago, when they were facing similar struggles. But look where they are now. I hope Marathi cinema follows that path, and the next decade will be crucial for us. We are gaining respect across India, and with every passing day, Marathi films are proving their timeless appeal."
