NEW DELHI: A Meerut local court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, accused of murdering Muskan's husband, Saurabh Rajput, for another 14 days.
Jail superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma stated, "The two appeared before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court of Akansha Mishra via video conferencing."
This court appearance marked the first time Muskan and Sahil had seen each other since their arrest, as they have been kept in separate barracks at Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail with strict restrictions on communication.
According to a prison source, Muskan became emotional and broke down upon seeing Sahil during the virtual hearing, news agency PTI reported.
"Following the hearing, Muskan was sent to the women's barrack (barrack number 12), and Sahil was taken back to the men's barrack (barrack number 18)," Sharma added.
Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer, was murdered on the night of March 4 at his Indiranagar, Brahmapuri residence. His wife, Muskan, and her lover, Sahil, have admitted to stabbing him.
The duo dismembered his body, severing his head and hands, and concealed them inside a blue drum, which they then filled with cement to seal.
Investigations have uncovered that Muskan had been plotting the murder since November 2023 and allegedly manipulated Sahil into carrying it out by posing as his deceased mother through a fake Snapchat account.
