‘Google a narcissist'..., the words that Christie Brinkley says gave her strength during divorce battle with husband Peter Cook

Supermodel Christie Brinkley is finally opening up about the tumultuous end of her fourth marriage to architect Peter Cook in her newly released memoir, "Uptown Girl." For years, Brinkley has remained largely silent about the circumstances surrounding their 2006 split after eight years of marriage, which followed the revelation of Cook's affair. The ensuing divorce and protracted custody battle over their daughter, Sailor, and Brinkley's adopted son, Jack, dominated tabloid headlines for years.
However, in excerpts obtained by People magazine, Brinkley details the "turmoil and torture" she endured during that period. "It was the most tortured relationship I've ever had," she writes in her memoir.
Brinkley reveals that for a long time, she kept her pain private. "I didn’t say anything to anybody," she states. However, a pivotal moment outside a courtroom led her to a revelation. "One day when I came out of the courtroom I said, ‘Google a narcissist.’ The letters started pouring in and I had so many women saying ‘Thank you. I realize other women are going through it. I’m not alone.'"
Looking back, Brinkley now expresses gratitude for the lessons learned, emphasizing the profound joy her three children bring her. "There were many times when I wondered if I would ever recover," she reflects in her book.

The memoir also recounts the dramatic discovery of Cook's infidelity, spurred by her female friends. Brinkley describes a scene reminiscent of "Charlie's Angels" as her friends urged her to search their family computer for more information. Their late-night investigation uncovered a trove of disturbing material.
"A panoply of incriminating photos and porn accounts populated the screen like fireworks, and before I knew it, my printer was shooting [beaver shots] out into the room," Brinkley writes. She describes the absurdity of the situation leading to an unexpected moment of dark humor. "It was so insane that it was almost funny and soon enough, the three of us were doubled over in laughter, as printouts of girls in X-rated poses began piling up on the floor faster than trash outside a greasy takeaway."
The revelations ultimately led to a lengthy and contentious six-year court battle between Brinkley and Cook. With the release of "Uptown Girl," Brinkley is now sharing her side of the story, offering a candid look into a deeply personal and challenging chapter of her life.
