We live in a world where AI has taken over. On the one hand, where the AI has shown easy and efficient ways of working, on the other hand, when it ends up in the wrong hands, it can do more damage than one could imagine. Example of the same has been seen over the years, with celebrities turning targets of deepfake videos. Recently, Vidya Balam became the target of an AI-generated false video. The clip went viral in no time, raising concern. Responding to the same,
Vidya Balan firmly clarified that she has no connection to the creation or circulation of the manipulated content.
In an attempt to spread awareness and show that she stands strongly against such malpractices and digital abuse, the actress shared, "It does not reflect my views or work."
“There are multiple videos currently circulating on social media and WhatsApp, which appear to feature me. However, I want to clarify that the videos are AI-generated and inauthentic,” she wrote along with her post.
The actress added, “I have no involvement in its creation or dissemination, nor do I endorse its content in any way. Any claims made in the videos should not be attributed to me, as it does not reflect my views or work. I urge everyone to verify information before sharing and be cautious of misleading AI-generated content.

This is not a standalone incident; several prominent Indian figures, such as Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Sachin Tendulkar, have been affected by deepfake videos in the past. This highlights the growing concerns surrounding digital authenticity and the potential misuse of technology in today's media landscape. It also shows that predators of the online world find celebrities and public figures soft targets.
