Rishab Shetty backed the comedy film 'Laughing Buddha,' directed by M. Bharath Raj, which was released in theaters on August 30, 2024; it has now made its way to the digital space. The film received a warm welcome from the audience upon its release.
The movie is now available for streaming on SUN NXT from April 24.
The OTT platform, through its social media handle on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, "It's finally out now!!! Watch and enjoy the new wave comedy outlook from Rishab Shetty's production house, Laughing Buddha, streaming now on SunNXT!!!"
Speaking about the film, 'Laughing Buddha' stands out for being shot entirely inside an old, abandoned building in the Bhadravati region of Karnataka, giving the movie a distinct visual flavor and atmosphere. The story revolves around Gowardhan, a soft-hearted police constable played by
Pramod Shetty in his first lead role. Gowardhan is known for his unwavering respect for the police uniform and his deep love for food. Life seems smooth for him, balancing work, family, and his culinary passions, until he receives a stern warning from his superiors: his excessive weight could lead to suspension.
This unexpected ultimatum throws Gowardhan into a dilemma. His love for food is as strong as his dedication to his job, making weight loss a daunting task. The film follows his hilarious and heartfelt journey as he tries to find a middle ground, facing challenges that are both comic and touching.
The story is inspired by a real-life incident in Himachal Pradesh.
The ensemble cast includes Teju Belawadi as the female lead, with Sundar Raj and Diganth Manchale playing pivotal roles.
The film's music is composed by Vishnu Vijay in his Kannada debut.
