'Andaz Apna Apna' re-release box office: The Aamir Khan, Salman Khan starrer sells 5500 tickets in advance booking; more than new release 'Ground Zero' starring Emraan Hashmi

Cult classic 'Andaz Apna Apna' re-released in theaters on April 25, showing promising advance ticket sales, surpassing even the new release 'Ground Zero' starring Emraan Hashmi. While 'Kesari 2' and 'Jaat' are currently running in theaters, their numbers are declining, potentially paving the way for the new releases to dominate.
'Andaz Apna Apna' re-release box office: The Aamir Khan, Salman Khan starrer sells 5500 tickets in advance booking; more than new release 'Ground Zero' starring Emraan Hashmi
Andaz Apna Apna' had released in cinemas in 1994. When the movie released originally, it was not a huge box office hit, however, over the years it has achieved a cult status. Right from the characters like Amar, Prem, Teja, Crime Master Gogo to the film's hilarious scenes and dialogues - all of it is loved today after three decades. Now that the film is set to re-release in theatres on April 25, here's looking at how it's done in terms of its advance ticket sales.
The film has sold about 5500 tickets in the top three national chains - PVR Inox and Cinepolis, for the opening day, according to Pinkvilla. Of course, for movies like these, it's the spot bookings which will count, but this advance booking trend is really encouraging. Infact, it's better than the new release, 'Ground Zero' starring Emraan Hashmi which is also set to release today. This film has sold only 4000 tickets so far in the advance booking sales but may see a positive upward trend due to positive word of mouth, as it releases.
While 'Andaz Apna Apna' and 'Ground Zero' are hitting the screens today, one already sees Sunny Deol starrer 'Jaat' and Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari 2' doing decently well in theatres at the moment. But both these movies have begun to see a downfall in the numbers on Wednesday and Thursday. So, the new releases may able to give them a tough competition. 'Kesari' is nearing its Rs 50 crore mark after its one week run at the box office. Meanwhile 'Jaat' has crossed Rs 80 crore at the box office and will struggle to cross the Rs 100 crore mark.
