Emraan Hashmi admits his ‘serial kisser’ image made him a star, reveals ‘Jannat 3’ is in the works
Emraan Hashmi has always been different from other Bollywood stars. Since he began his career in 2003 with ‘Footpath’, he has chosen roles that are not typical hero parts. From bold thrillers like ‘Murder’ and ‘Aksar’ to powerful films like ‘Jannat’ and ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’, Emraan has shown he can do it all. Now that his new action film ‘Ground Zero’ has hit the cinemas, he has exciting news for his fans — ‘Jannat 3’ is on its way.
Jannat 3’ is happening — But not just yet
Emraan in an interview with DNA confirmed about bringing back the popular ‘Jannat’ series. He said, “Baatein chal rahi hai. Jis tarah Awarapan ka hua that. It's going to take some time.” He explained that they don’t want to make a sequel just for money or because the first films were hits. “We don’t want to make a sequel just for the sake of it, cashing in on the franchise,” he said.
He added that the story is still being worked on and the team is thinking about new ideas. “Now, will it be on cricket, or will it be another story of a bad boy with questionable ambition? We will see.” Emraan wants to make sure the new film has a strong story and fits well with the earlier movies.

How the ‘Serial Kisser’ tag made Emraan a star
In the early days of his career, Emraan became famous for his many kissing scenes and often played grey characters who are not completely good or bad. The 'Awarapan' actor admitted, "That (grey-shade roles) is something that sets it apart from 2003, with my debut film Footpath. I think, I don't know if I would have worked if I went down playing the traditional roles, playing righteous characters. I don't think I look that part, nor that I wanted to it myself. So I became a part of the experience from the audience who sees this new grey hero, who does the wrong thing, but you still root for him. And of course, there is a redemption arc as well."

‘Ground Zero’
While fans wait for ‘Jannat 3’, Emraan’s new film ‘Ground Zero’ has been released in cinemas today. This is not just another war movie — it tells the true story of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who played a key role in catching a terrorist behind the 2001 Parliament attack.
