Sonu Nigam on Monday issued a public apology to the people of Karnataka. Taking to Instagram, the singer wrote, “Sorry Karnataka. My Love for you, is bigger than my Ego. Love you always (sic).”
The singer had come under fire for his recent comments at a Bengaluru music event where he allegedly linked a fan’s request for a Kannada song to the
Pahalgam terror attack, sparking outrage among some Kannada speakers.
The apology came shortly after the Bengaluru Rural Police issued a notice to Nigam, asking him to appear before the investigating officer within a week. The notice was in response to an FIR filed against the singer, based on a complaint lodged by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV). Meanwhile, on Monday evening, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had decided to halt all professional engagements with Sonu Nigam over his remarks. The chamber had further called for an apology from him.
