With this feat, Thudarum has overtaken two of 2024’s biggest Malayalam blockbusters —
Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham, which minted Rs 85.15 crore in its lifetime run, and
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much-celebrated The Goat Life, which earned Rs 85 crore.
Both films were widely appreciated for their performances and storytelling, but Thudarum seems to have connected with a broader audience, offering a perfect mix of nostalgia and mass appeal, buoyed by Mohanlal’s evergreen charisma.
Thudarum opened with a solid Rs 5.25 crore on its first Friday, and witnessed a remarkable jump over its opening weekend, collecting Rs 8.6 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.5 crore on Sunday. The momentum continued through its first week, raking in Rs 51.4 crore in total.

Do you think Mohanlal's star power is the main reason for Thudarum's success?
Even in its second week, Thudarum held steady, collecting Rs 5.4 crore on its second Friday and peaking again on Sunday with Rs 7.5 crore. By the end of Day 14, the film added Rs 3.75 crore more, bringing its 14-day total to Rs 87.25 crore.
While Aavesham and The Goat Life had impressive runs with strong word-of-mouth, Thudarum benefited from Mohanlal’s enduring fan base and a family-centric narrative that resonated across age groups.
With this milestone, Thudarum now sits behind 2018,L2: Empuraan and Manjummel Boys , in the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam films list. As the film continues its theatrical run, trade experts predict it might inch closer to the Rs 100 crore mark in the coming days — a rare feat for a Malayalam film.
