Njan Prakashan actress
Anju Kurian is the latest to join the team of
Unni Mukundan’s film Meppadiyan, which is directed and scripted by
Vishnu Mohan. The actress joined the sets of the film a few days ago.
Anju, who was part of a few ad campaigns and photoshoots during the lockdown, resumed work with the movie. Her last Mollywood venture was Jack & Daniel last year that had Dileep and Arjun Sarja in lead roles.
Meppadiyan is touted to be a family entertainer and will also mark Unni Mukundan’s debut production venture. The film chronicles the life of a commoner named Jayakrishnan, played by Unni. Apart from the actor, Meppadiyan has a host of noted actors including Indrans, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Sreejith Ravi, Aparna Janardhanan and
Major Ravi.
In an earlier interview, Unni had told us about the film, which was initially set to go on floors earlier this year. “It’s a naadan, earthy set up and falls in today’s very realistic cinema genre. I play an ordinary village guy, who is willing to do any work to make his living, and the crux of the movie is about him standing by his ethics,” he had said. Unni had also put on weight to play the character.
Composer Rahul Subramanian will handle the music department of the movie, which has Shameer Muhammed as its editor and Neil D’Cunha as the cinematographer. Vipin Kumar is its production manager. The movie will be shot across 48 live locations across Erattupetta and Pala, and the makers are aiming at a theatrical release for the movie next year.
