While
Suraj Venjaramoodu is already a National Award winner, last year he proved his versatility as an actor, through films such as Finals, Driving Licence and Android Kunjappan Version 5.25. Now, the actor has been cast in the lead role in Clint director
Harikumar’s Autorikshawkarante Bharya.
The movie, based on M Mukundan’s eponymous novel, will have the actor play the role of an indolent autorickshaw driver named Sajeevan, whose life changes after marrying Radhika.
Harikumar tells us, “Apart from Fahadh Faasil, we only had Suraj in our mind for the character because Sajeevan doesn’t have any scope for heroism. Suraj has been proving that he is a brilliant performer and that’s what we want from the actor playing the role. It’s not a role for which we could have cast some of the younger stars because it’s a heroine-oriented project too and that’s one of the reasons the film that was supposed to go on floors last year was delayed.”
Incidentally, there were rumours that the project will have
Manju Warrier or Parvathy as the female lead. However, Harikumar says, “Those reports are all fake. We haven’t approached either of them; I think people are making up these rumours based on how they have perceived the role of Radhika from the novel and who they want to see play her. We will, however, be finalising the cast soon.”
The film will also mark the first scripting venture of acclaimed writer M Mukundan. “We are hoping to start the project by April 2020. With Suraj on board now, we are now all clear to start shooting,” he says.
