In the 66th National Film Awards, the
Ammy Virk starrer ‘Harjeeta’ has bagged the title of Best Punjabi Film.
Written by
Jagdeep Sidhu and directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, ‘Harjeeta’ was released last year on May 18th. The movie chronicled the story of a young hockey player, Harjeet Singh Tuli, who was India’s captain in the Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2016. It was under Singh’s captaincy that India won the trophy after a wait of 2 decades.
For the movie, Ammy Virk had to work very hard not just on the acting part, but also on matching the looks of the real Harjeeta. Ammy lost a lot of weight as he had to sport an athletic body. He broke every last drop of sweat to get the perfect abs as well. Also, he practiced for hours and spent time with real time hockey players in their base camp so as to bring reality on reel.
Seems like now after a year, these efforts have been paid off via this national recognition.
The other ensemble cast of the movie includes Sawan Rupowali, Sameep Singh, Pankaj Tripathi, Raj Jhinjer, Gurpreet K Bhangu, Parkash Gadu, Sukhi Chahal and Jarnail Singh.
