G Ramesh, who directed Nandaa’s Kallattam and the yet-to-be released Iruvar Ullam, has now finished work on his latest film, titled Adavi. Talking about the intriguing title, the director says, “Adavi is a Tamil word which means a dense forest where even light cannot enter. The film captures the life of tribals in Kotagiri.”
The story, written by the film’s producer, K Sambasivam, revolves around how common folk stand up against the daunting troika of fate, money and power. “What happens when the powerful plan to grab the land that rightfully belongs to the natives is what the plot is all about,” says Ramesh.
Vinoth Kishan, who has acted in films like Naan Mahaan Alla, Vidiyum Munn and Imaikkaa Nodigal, plays the lead role while
Ammu Abirami of Ratsasan fame will be seen as his love interest. The rest of the cast, except for director RNR Manohar, has new faces, chosen from the theatre scene and the region where the film is set in. Ramesh has handled the cinematography himself while Sarath, a flautist, has composed the music for the film.
