Just a few days ago,
Gautham Vasudev Menon sparked controversy by seemingly disowning his 2019 film 'Enai Noki Paayum Thota', starring
Dhanush. The filmmaker, known for his acclaimed work, had previously dodged questions about the movie and even denied recognising it. His remarks ignited speculation about his dissatisfaction with the project. However, in a recent interview with, Gautham Menon clarified his comments, explaining that they were misunderstood and taken out of context.
Addressing the issue, Gautham Menon said in a chat with Cineulagam, “It was just a joke when I said ENPT isn’t my film, but it was wrongly interpreted. I was not satisfied with the second half due to the challenges I faced during the shoot.” He elaborated on how production issues, including scheduling conflicts with Dhanush, affected his vision for the movie. "I couldn’t get the hero’s dates as he was busy with Vada Chennai, and I had to complete the film within a short timeframe," he explained.
Despite his earlier dissatisfaction, Gautham Menon emphasised that the film will always remain his work since he was also the producer. He admitted that while the first half met his expectations, the second half fell short of his creative vision. Furthermore, he acknowledged that people from his office informed him about the public misunderstanding of his remarks, prompting him to set the record straight. Gautham Menon’s clarification sheds light on the difficulties faced during the film's production, including rumors that Dhanush ghost-directed parts of the movie following a reported fallout between the actor and the director. Despite its troubled journey and delayed release, 'Enai Noki Paayum Thota' remains a significant part of Gautham Menon's filmography.
'Enai Noki Paayum Thota' stars Dhanush and
Megha Akash in lead roles, and the film was released on November 29, 2019.
