I listen to a script with the viewers’ mindset. The two aspects I look at when choosing a project are whether it excites me and if I would be good in that role,” says
Rio Raj, who will next be seen in the film Sweetheart.
The actor plays Vasu, an animator, in it. Talking to us about Rio’s character in Sweetheart, debut filmmaker Swineeth S Sukumar says, “Vasu is someone with commitment issues. He meets a girl named Manu (Gopika Ramesh), an architect who believes that relationships are meant to be everlasting. They are like opposite poles.”
Describing his film as a ‘romantic drama with a pinch of humour and emotion’, he adds, “The film happens in 24 hours and unfolds in nonlinear format.”
Rio tells us that his character in Sweetheart would be very different from what he did in Joe. Swineeth agrees and adds, “His character in Joe was dedicated and helpful, someone who looked at love as something pure. In this film, he is the exact opposite.”
Rio believes that Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music will be a huge strength for this film. “Swineeth and I were excited whenever Yuvan sir sent us scratches of tunes in his voice. It’s been a while since he did a proper romcom. This is his zone, and to think that he is returning to it with my film makes me happy,” Rio signs off.
