After enjoying a fruitful stint as the lead actress for nearly 13 years,
Charmme Kaur turned into a producer with her self-starrer Jyothi Lakshmi in 2015 and subsequently started to co-produce films with
Puri Jagannadh on Puri Connects. Though most of their collaborations like Rogue, Paisa Vasool and Mehbooba fell flat on the commercial front, the last film iSmart Shankar turned out to be a highly profitable venture at the box-office.
Charmme Kaur is celebrating her 33rd birthday on Sunday (May 17). Fans and several celebrities from the Telugu film fraternity have already poured their wishes on social media. Due to lockdown restrictions, the Mumbai-born actress has celebrated a simple birthday at home with family members. Sharing a series of photos from her cake cutting session, she wrote on her social handle “I m having a faaantaaaastic time celebrating this birthday.. Soooo many msgs , post , calls n video calls .. keep it coming , I looooove it all 😘😘 n can’t thank u guys enough for soooo much love .. day is still long 😉 #happybirthdaytome 😝 #lockdownbirthday”
At the age of 15, Charmme made her silver screen debut with the 2002 Telugu film Nee Thodu Kavali. After starring in a couple of Tamil and Malayalam projects, she returned to Tollywood with Krishna Vamsi’s Sri Anjaneyam and bagged her maiden superhit with Nagarjuna’s 2005 film Mass.
In the following years, she went on to romance all the leading heroes of Telugu cinema and gradually turned into a favourite for female-centric projects. With over 50 films in her kitty, some of her memorable films include Anukokunda Oka Roju, Pournami, Mantra and Jyothi Lakshmi. She has bid adieu to acting after 2015.
Besides bankrolling ‘Romantic’ starring Akash Puri and Ketika Sharma in lead roles, Charmme Kaur is also overseeing the production formalities of Vijay Deverakonda’s pan-Indian project ‘Fighter’. The Puri Jagannadh directorial stars Bollywood bombshell Ananya Panday as the leading lady.
