Her early life
Shivani Verma was born and raised in Pune on May 31st, 1972. She initially pursued a career in electronics and telecommunications from Pune University and worked as a successful entrepreneur. After college, she got married to Vishal Verma, with whom she started a software business that lasted till 2004. Ever since a young age, she was introduced to spirituality through her mother who was in contact with a local Raj yoga centre of ‘The Brahma Kumaris Organisation’.
The turning point
Her journey into spirituality began in 1996 when she deeply immersed herself in spiritual learning, where she took lectures by Brahma Kumaris teachers. It resonated deeply with her and led her to explore spiritual teachings further. She then decided to live a life of celibacy with her husband but did not break her marriage. She decided to join the Brahma Kumaris to take teachings on meditation, self-awareness, and the importance of spiritual growth. This was a significant shift from her corporate and married life.
Becoming Sister Shivani
As she embraced spiritual teachings, Shivani underwent deep personal transformation. She chose to dedicate her life to spirituality and became a teacher within the Brahma Kumaris organization. She adopted the name "Sister Shivani" after taking vows of celibacy and dedicating herself to spiritual service.
