From the outset, the 17-year-old golfer found herself battling against the course, the competition, and the weight of expectations. She was accompanied by Secret Service agents and cheered on by supporters in signature red hats, Kai entered the final day already sitting at the bottom of the 24-player field. She posted a final-round score of 89 (17-over), bringing her total to 52-over for the tournament with rounds of 89-79-83-89. Despite moments of resilience, she never managed to recover from the rough start, ultimately finishing 35 shots behind her nearest competitor.

Kai was left to navigate the field alone without the presence of her mother, who almost always accompanies Kai in these tournaments. Vanessa has been keeping a low profile since her relationship with golf legend Tiger Woods came to light. Not just Vanessa but Kai’s father, Donald Trump Jr, too was absent.
Kai wasn’t the only high-profile junior golfer facing challenges. Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, also struggled in his division, though his performance was stronger than Kai’s; he still struggled to find consistency. He shot a 75 (3-over) in the final round, bringing his total to 11-over for the tournament with rounds of 78-73-73-75. In the end, he finished tied for 25th in a field of 36 players. Tiger Woods, too, was absent during the tournament. The timing of their on-course struggles has fueled a lot of attention.

The story of the two dating was first revealed by Daily Mail, however there was no confirmation from either side. After weeks of speculation, Tiger confirmed their relationship on March 23 via a sweet post on X(formerly Twitter). In the caption of the post, Tiger wrote, “Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time, we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts."
