Ever tuned to ‘Extreme Cheapskates’? Well, if you thought Kate Hashimoto, the New Yorker who still wears her 1998 (about 20 years) bought underwear, or Michael McSurely, who brews coffee in his old socks, or Stephanie, who cooks Lasagna in the dishwasher were penny-pinchers, you haven’t seen enough! The award for the best cheapskate should perhaps go to Ms. Wang, a young woman, who lives, eats and sleeps inside a toilet.
Before your brain tells you ‘That’s enough internet for today’, hold on. This gets even more ‘interesting’. If you're continuing with this article, you might want to set aside whatever you're eating, because this isn't exactly easy for your stomach.
An 18-year-old furniture store employee, who identifies as Ms. Wang, according to a Jam Press report, has turned to an unusual living arrangement to save money. She has rented her workplace bathroom at just $6.47 a month. The young woman, who works as a salesperson, initially offered $27.17 for the rental arrangement, however, her her employer said she only needed to cover the modest fee for her water and electricity costs.

Ms. Yang earns around $410.14 monthly, however, she wants to keep her expenses low to save for her future. The woman lives, cooks, eats, and sleeps in the workplace
toilet for this. This way, she ensures her monthly expense is only $54.34, and deposits the rest in the bank. Though she was offered accommodation from her workplace, she turned it down as the space had no doors.

Ms. Yang, who has over 16,000 followers on Douyin, also documents her everyday life living in the
toilet. Her living setup includes a folding bed that doubles as a barricade against the door, a clothing rack, and a curtain of fabric draped over the stalls to give a private corner. She cooks meals on a portable stove, chopping ingredients on a board, and stores supplies in bowls along a covered ledge. Laundry gets done in the sink, with clothes hung to dry on the building’s rooftop.
Though Ms. Yang lives in a toilet, keeps the space spotless, and it has ‘no smell at all,’ the internet is pretty disgusted by the living arrangement. Each morning, when the customers arrive, she packs up her belongings, so customers and coworkers can use the toilet facilities during business hours. A few shoppers were even surprised to see personal items in a restroom, however, they did not go into an investigative mode.
With the saved money, the frugal teen plans to buy a car or a house of her own someday.
