Amalaki Ekadashi 2025: Significance


Ekadashi holds an immense religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. This day is considered an extremely auspicious and sacred day to worship Lord Vishnu. All the Lord Vishnu devotees observe strict fast and offer prayers to Shri Hari. Devotees worldwide, who follow Iskcon observe Ekadashi Vrat in order to ask for Lord Vishnu's blessings. This day is purely dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Those, who fast on this auspicious day are believed to get rid of the sins they may have committed during the previous life. Additionally, this fast gives wealth, success, happiness, good fortune, and all other worldly pleasures.
As per Hindu scripture that people should worship to the Amala Tree and offer Amala (Indian Gooseberry) to Lord Vishnu on this sacred day. Amala is renowned for its wonderful qualities; it represents long life, and those who worship the tree and present Amala to Lord Vishnu are bestowed with health and longevity. On this specific Ekadashi, people are also encouraged to spend some time sitting beneath the Amle tree in order to get the blessings of Shri Hari.

Amalaki Ekadashi 2025: Rituals


1. People get up early and take a sacred bath before starting puja rituals.
2. Clean the house and specially puja room.
3. Place the Shree Yantra and an idol of Lord Vishnu on the wooden plank.
4. Light a diya with desi cow ghee and present a garland of yellow flowers.
5. Serve Tulsi Dal with panchamrit and homemade sweets.
6. Recite Vishnu Sahasranama and chant the Lord Vishnu Mantra.
7. Offer bhog prasad to the Lord and recite the Amalaki Ekadashi Vrat Katha.
8. Seek blessings of Lord Vishnu, and on Dwadashi Tithi, the following day, devotees can break their fast.
9. Those, who cannot tolerate hunger might break their fast by consuming only the sattvik food that is advised for fasting.
