Fan theory connects GTA 6’s mud girl to Tracey De Santa, lacks Rockstar backing

An emerging fan theory asserts the enigmatic "mud girl" of Grand Theft Auto 6's recent trailer is none other than Michael De Santa's daughter, Tracey De Santa, from GTA 5. Though the hype has taken some life on gaming forums and social media, for now, no reliable evidence or confirmation by Rockstar Games proves this link.


The theory emerged from a recent rumor that re-examined a brief moment in the GTA 6 trailer, focusing on a blonde woman covered in mud, nicknamed “mud girl” by fans. Her facial shape and hair color prompted some onlookers to compare her to Tracey De Santa, a regular character in GTA 5. Fueling more speculations, there was a voice in the trailer that uttered, "Well, look who's back," right after mud girl's appearance, suggesting more assumptions of a returning character.
The timeline also adds a touch of believability: GTA 6 supposedly takes place in 2025, twelve years after the events of GTA 5. This would put Tracey in her early 30s, allowing for a return appearance on the grounds of age. Aside from these vague linkages, there's nothing at all that binds the mud girl to Tracey.
The theory seems to have started from a Reddit post by a user popular for speculative works, and as much as it has gained popularity among some supporters, the visual similarity is subjective and far from conclusive.

In spite of the hype, Rockstar Games has said nothing and offered no hints about the identity of the mud girl. Traditionally, the studio has been tight-lipped about character information until nearer launch, and GTA 6 seems to be doing the same. Other fans, however, think that mud girl could be part of a new faction hinted at in the trailer called the "ThrillBilly mud club," which means she might be part of a new narrative instead of a nod.
There have been some requests from fans for more crossovers of previous game characters, but there has been no sign that Rockstar is going to go back to GTA 5 characters in a significant manner.
Though the Tracey De Santa theory has generated buzz among the GTA fan base, it is still based on speculation and not fact. Until Rockstar provides more information, mud girl's identity and whether she has any connection to previous games or not, is unknown. For now, fans can only speculate and wait.
