Key Highlights

  • Juan Soto had a 0-for-3 in the last Mets vs Cardinals match
  • Soto’s poor performance has caused haters to troll him all over social media
  • Fans compare Soto’s current performance with Aaron Judge’s 2024 performance with hopes that Soto will gain momentum eventually
Juan Soto is again in the limelight, and not for good reasons. The by-far highest contract holder of the New York Mets has been performing poorly throughout the season, and Mets’ fans have been brutal. Soto is being bashed left and right all over social media, with some wondering what’s happening with the Mets’ star player. However, there are still some Soto fans who came forward to defend him.

Why are baseball fans hating on Juan Soto?

When the New York Mets signed Juan Soto, they expected him to be the superstar player and bring in good numbers. Fans expected the same, but, the MLB 2025 season started and Soto is seen struggling.
Well, when you sign a player for $765 Million, and he doesn’t perform as per expectations, fans will start to troll him brutally. Besides, his 0-for-3 performance against the Cardinals on April 17, has again opened the can of worms.
NFL analyst, and former MLB author, John Frascella tweeted,
“I have never seen a superstar become a non-MLB player so quickly. Something is really, terribly wrong. He needs time off. For real.”

He was not alone, as there were several fans portraying the same sentiments. Another user went on to say “He doesn’t care he got paid” indicating that Soto only joined Mets for the money.

Fans come out in support of Juan Soto

Though haters are trolling Soto for his performance this season, the player does have strong supporters who came forward to defend him. One fan went on to say,
“He’ll be fine. It’s a long season” and posted a picture displaying Soto’s career statistics.

Another user went on to defend Soto by comparing his current performance to that of Aaron Judge back in 2024 when Judge had a hitting average of .197 at the beginning of the season and went on to .322 towards the end.

Fans are showing great support towards Juan Soto, some stating that he needs to rest for a while and then come back stronger. Though Soto has been performing below par, Mets fans still have hopes of him having the strongest comeback. Whether he will shut his haters or give them more things to gossip about, only time will tell.
