PUNE: The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) president Luciano Rossi is glad that shooting will retain 15 events at the Los Angeles Games 2028.
His fear of the sport losing events at the Olympic Games was real. Indeed, if the international body had not made important changes to the format of some of the events in the line of fire, that may well have been the case.

Luckily, ISSF has made some significant changes in the finals of 50m rifle 3Position, men’s 25m rapid fire and shotgun events to make it relevant.
Apart from having 60 shots in the qualification round (20 each position), the 3Position event used to have 45 shots in the final that included kneeling, prone and standing positions.
The ISSF has removed kneeling and prone positions from the final and the new format will see only the final being played in standing position.
