On March 14, 2025, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a challenging defeat against the Denver Nuggets, marking their fourth loss in a row. Even though Austin Reaves and rookie Bronny James Jr. had impressive games, the Lakers had a hard time finishing strong without some of their key players. As they look to bounce back, will they be able to shake off this slump and face the Phoenix Suns in their upcoming game?
Nikola Jokic Dominates with 28 Points to Power Denver Nuggets Over Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers showed up at Ball Arena with a limited roster, going head-to-head with the tough Denver Nuggets. Austin Reaves was on fire for Los Angeles, putting up 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 13 assists. Dalton Knecht also made a big impact, scoring 32 points.
With veteran players missing, rookie guard Bronny James Jr. took the opportunity to shine. He logged 16 minutes on the court, scoring five points, grabbing two rebounds, and making one steal. His three-point shooting was 1-for-5, but he proved he’s prepared to help the team whenever necessary.
On the flip side, the Nuggets got a boost from Nikola Jokic's 28 points and Jamal Murray's 26, which included a vital three-pointer with just 5.6 seconds to go. Russell Westbrook's steal and dunk in the closing moments secured the victory for Denver, emphasizing the game's dramatic finish.
Injuries Pile Up for Los Angeles Lakers as Key Players Remain Sidelined
The Lakers were without many of their key players because of injuries and rest, making them a poor team.
LeBron James was sidelined for a third consecutive game with a left groin strain, and Luka Doncic with a right ankle sprain also missed out on this game.
In addition to Rui Hachimura with his left patellar tendinopathy, Jaxson Hayes with a right knee contusion, and Dorian Finney-Smith with a left ankle injury, they also had Gabe Vincent with a left ankle injury.
What Bronny James Jr. had to say after this?
Following the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Denver Nuggets, rookie guard Bronny James Jr. expressed his commitment to staying prepared, stating:
"I'm always just trying to stay ready as much as I can whether I'm playing in the G or up here with the big guys. Just always trying to stay ready."
The Lakers are currently at 40-25 for the season, which puts them in fifth place in the Western Conference.
